BMW aloittaa 15. kautensa MotoGP:n virallisena Safety Car -valmistajana. BMW M6 Gran Coupe on pääasiallinen Safety Car ryhmässä johon kuuluvat myös BMW M6 Coupe, BMW M5, BMW M3 Coupe, BMW M550d xDrive Touring, sekä BMW HP4-moottoripyörä. BMW M6 Gran Coupessa on M TwinPower Turbo 412 kW/560 hv- moottori, joka kiihdyttää auton 0-100 km/h 4.2s.
