Monet autonharrastajat haaveilevat joka vuosi matkasta Nürburgringin kuuluisalle Nordschleifelle. Harva kuitenkaan ymmärtää tähän liittyviä riskejä ja kauden 2013 Nürburgring kolareita esittävä 8 min pitkä video on hyvä muistutus siellä piilevistä vaaroista. Koska videon kolarit ovat pääsääntöisesti samasta kohtaa 22 km pitkältä radalta, on ilmeistä että kolareita esiintyy eerittäin paljon kuvattua enemmän.
Mercedes-benz julkisti tänään uuden S-sarjan lippulaivan 6-litraisella V12-moottorilla varustetun 630 hevosvoimaisen S 65 AMG:n. Kuten edellinenkin S 65 AMG, auto on saatavilla vain pitkänä Lang-versiona. Auton AMG-alusta perustuu innovatiiviseen kameraohjauksella varustettuun MAGIC BODY CONTROL-alustaan. Aikaisemman viisiportisen vaihteiston sijaan uudesta S 65 AMG:stä löytyy 7-portainen AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC -kaksoiskytkinvaihteisto, jossa on kolme moodia: Controlled Efficiency (C), Sport (S) ja Manual (M). Polttoainetta säästävä ECO start/stop -toiminto on aktivoituna ”C”-asennossa. Autoon on saatavana AMG ceramic high-performance composite braking -järjestelmä, jonka hiilikuitujarrulevyt ovat edessä 420 mm. Runsaaseen vakiovarusetlistaan kuuluvat mm. Head-up display -näyttö, KEYLESS-GO -pakettia ja panoraamakatto. Auton ensiesittely tapahtuu samanaikaisesti 2013 Tokion autonäyttelyssä ja 2013 Los Angelesin autonäyttelyssä.

The S 65 AMG is the only high-performance 12-cylinder automobile from a German premium manufacturer – and it is a car with a pedigree: the first generation of the S 65 AMG was launched in 2003, with the second generation being produced from 2006 until 2013.
